The Romanian rovinieta

Yes — the rovinieta is required on most Romanian national roads, not only motorways, which makes it easy to need one without realising. It is electronic and linked to your licence plate.

Romania offers an unusually wide range of periods, including a 60-day option that sits between the monthly and annual products.

Note that the Danube bridges at Fetești–Cernavodă and Giurgiu charge a separate toll that the rovinieta does not cover.
